Steps
Mining
- If you have a pickaxe (available from the blacksmith), you can venture into the mine and MINE. Sometimes you'll find a vein of minerals, other times you won't.
- Once you find a vein, you can then MINE {mineral}. Example: MINE COPPER. If you're pulling a handcart, the chunks of ore from the vein will automatically fall into it.
- If you're lucky enough to get any veins of gems, those can be sold directly to the market or used in Gemcutting to attempt to increase their value.
- Chunks of metal ore can either be sold or smelted into bars (for more riln)
- You can also SURVEY an area of the mine to attempt to look for signs of particular gems or ore in that area. The sucess of this is based on the lighting and your mining skill.
Smelting
- Find a furnace (available at the blacksmith). PUT ORE IN FURNACE.
- PULL BELLOWS.
- Wait until the furnace has cooled down and retrieve your bars.
- Bars of different metal types can be combined to create new alloys, such as bronze, pewter, brass and steel.
- Bars of the same metal can be combined to create large bars needed in Blacksmithing to create certain types of weapons and armor.
Metallurgy
- Combining common metals in the furnace can create new alloys not found naturally.
- Specific recipes can be discovered in game by visiting the blacksmith's workyard.
Current Alloys include: Bronze, Brass, Pewter, Steel, Electrum
Notes
You can smelt things other than ore - like iron lockboxes. But it takes more than one lockbox to make a bar, and if you don't provide enough raw material, you will lose the inputs.
You can put multiple chunks of ore into the furnace at the same time.
