"Purity" is actually the lack of any afflictions. While this may sound nice, player characters must be aware that a character without any afflictions will therefore have nothing to bind their soul to the mortal world upon death, and so their death will be permanent - their soul will pass on when separated from the body.

Soul Purity is something rumored to be the oppostite of an affliction. Rather, a very devoted and good person could make choices which would strengthen their inner light, and protect them further from the nether taint.

In case that didn't sink in:  IF YOU CHOOSE PURITY AS YOUR "AFFLICTION," DEATH WILL BE '''PERMANENT!'''  There will be no chance for resurrection.  Your character will be gone forever, and you will not be able to re-use the character name or "re-roll."  Players should consider this "hardcore mode."

EDIT:  This information may be out of date as death mechanics are currently being adjusted in the alpha stages of the game.
