The janitor is an OOC term used to refer to the mechanic that removes abandoned items left in rooms. Homes are exempt from the janitor, although dormitories and other similar living spaces are not.
In character, the janitor can be explained by NPC scavengers and other travelers picking up discarded items in the wilderness, and townspeople cleaning up the streets in towns and hamlets.
