If a character makes enough trouble for a particular faction, they may find themselves with a bounty on their head! This means anyone seeking the bounty may freely attack them until the bounty has been collected. It should be noted that deliberately NOT turning in the bounty after defeating a character in order to try and justify continued unrestricted CvC action against them is not acceptable. Shenanigans to the purpose of getting the bounty fulfilled in an unsatisfactory manner are also not acceptable - such as the subject of the bounty deliberately allowing a friend/ally to kill them so the bounty can be closed/collected.
Bounties can be seen on wanted posters (or similar) in various faction centers. Wanted posters will be flagged with "(new bounties)" if they have bounties not yet seen by that character. The posters will include:
- The target's name
- A basic description of the target (presumably including a sketch of the character and possibly additional notes so other characters can claim they recognize them as the subject of the bounty)
- The pay offered for turning in the bounty
- The location to
deliver
the target's head to - Optionally, some additional notes regarding the bounty
When a character who has seen a bounty poster look
s at the target of the bounty (or their corpse), they will given some extra text recalling some of the bounty information.
To collect a bounty, the bounty hunter must use the chop
command on the target's corpse to remove their head. This will require a chopping tool, such as a hatchet or handaxe or similar. The bounty hunter must then take the severed head to the location specified by the wanted poster, and then use the deliver
command to fulfill the bounty and receive their pay. Once this is done, the bounty and associated poster will automatically be cleared. Note: Severed bounty heads spoil relatively quickly, so minimize any spectacle or parading of the head or such. They also cannot be stored in containers in order to encourage quickly turning them in. Also note: Heads can only be chopped from corpses that are the target of an active bounty.
