The wilderness is a representation of the greater playable region of the central Lost Lands in which the game takes place. From the wilderness map, characters can travel to and enter more detailed explorable areas. Most characters will want to save up for a mount in order to make wilderness travel faster and take less nutrition and energy.
In addition to the wilderness providing animals to hunt, flora to forage, and trees to fell, it can also be a very dangerous place. Newer or less combat-capable individuals are advised to stick to the roads, though even then safety is not guaranteed. Encounters in the wilderness can be anything from wild animals and brigands to monstrous infested or nethrim.
