Unimbued Staves

Post by Nootau »

Will there be a chance that staves could be carved that could later become magical staves for the sake of Elemancy?

Possibly, but it would likely involve a lot of time, effort, and resources.

Akin to building your own lightsaber?

I don't know how one goes about building their own lightsabre, but I'd imagine so.

I actually think it'd be a good idea to have magical stave and wand making require several high skilled crafts. Wood working, lapidary, and maybe something special to the upcoming Mummers (or Engineer/Tinkers).

IE, a Master Woodworker needs to carve a Staff/Wand that is of a certain quality thresh hold (let's just say Exquisite for now). After this, someone who's a Master of Lapidary needs to facet a precious gem that is associated with the element (IE, a ruby for fire, sapphire for water, maybe different varietes of quartz can work with ANY of them but it makes a less powerful staff gem), into certain shapes (certain shapes being better for certain elements). The Gem and Staff/Wand then need to be taken to a Mummer/Tinker, who bonds the two, and does whatever Skill is needed to make the staff/wand work (IE, something along the lines of it being a "computer" like in my post in the Elemancy or Elemancer guild thread I can't remember which, meaning the Mummer/Tinker has to 'program' it).

It sounds complicated, but I think that that would be a fair way to have staff and wand making work. Maybe even have it require Masterfully crafted items.

(And the "computer" thing isn't absolutely necessary, just something I thought I would include as an example).
