Currently with the way Training Skills work combined with other bonuses (Be it RPAs/Compensation/etc), ends up devaluing how much benefit you get for paying for Training.
When you pay for Training, it doubles you gain on each successful usage up until a certain target goal which is exactly +5 Skill from when you purchased it.
If you end up with any other bonuses to how quickly you learn Skills, this doesn't increase the target goal threshold but it does increase how quickly you get to it.
One of the nice things of how Clok v1 implemented this was that when you purchased Training, it kept track of the practice bonus you purchased, instead of a skill target. IE, you'd buy 2.5 worth of practice, and every successful action you took, it would double the amount of skill you gained, but only remove 50% of it off your practice. Get 0.1 for an action, you've got 2.45 worth of practice left.
Without knowing what goes on in the background, it wouldn't surprise me if RPAs and such work the same way as training meaning, if anything you don't want to stack them because you're just reducing their overall effectiveness. The only reason I can think of why this would be to almost slow down people leveling skills which seems counterintuitive for the fact they're literally there to help people speed skill leveling up.

Re: How Training/RPA Bonuses Work?
Can confirm the devaluing of training due to other boosts. I ran through my 1k+ riln training comically fast with the recent super boost. Sure I was getting something like 2 skill/minute, but that just meant that my purchased training was done in 2.5 minutes.
Re: How Training/RPA Bonuses Work?
I think unless it is a *really* awful skill, that is a slog to get through even a little gain, you're probably better off utilizing it almost as "free training" to minimize time that you need to work on riln. Especially later on when you're looking at 2-3k for a training session.

Re: How Training/RPA Bonuses Work?
Yep, 100%. Sometimes even un-boosted I find myself timing how long it takes to run back and refresh training to see if I could just stay put and get the same returns.
I think Lexx suggested somewhere else that we be allowed to use our extra training slots to "double-up" on one skill to make training last longer in the event that we were just focusing on one skill.

Re: How Training/RPA Bonuses Work?
Per the changelog: "Skill training now grants a number of unmodified points' worth of increased gains, rather than setting a skill goal to be reached before the training ends. This will prevent additional skillgain bonus modifiers (such as RPAs) from causing skill training to be used up more quickly. A character's skill list will no longer display a "Goal" column, instead displaying a "Training" column which shows how many points' worth of skill training remains."Dorn wrote: Sat Jan 25, 2025 7:10 am Currently with the way Training Skills work combined with other bonuses (Be it RPAs/Compensation/etc), ends up devaluing how much benefit you get for paying for Training.
RPAs and Crash Compensations worked this way already. When you get a skillgain it reduces the amount of training/RPA/Compensation by the initial unmodified amount, THEN applies the bonus modifiers for how much your skill actually increases. That way stacking bonuses isn't also increasing how quickly one burns through said bonuses, which is what was happening with skill training until this update. Hopefully that makes sense!
