Requests for Clarifications

Post by Sneaky »

As a followup to
viewtopic.php?t=7706&p=40832#p40832
I went ahead and made this topic. Feel free to ask for your own clarifications.

In the wiki article for Undm, it says that she is a Serafim, the highest order of Serafina's Aengels. In the article for Serafina it says she is a lesser immortal. As I understand things, Undm is one of the prime immortals, which are big deals. I'm just curious if this is a weird interpretation by the Viali, or if the wiki is out of date, or something else. Thanks for clarifying all of that stuff in the previous topic.

(Important to note that this is specifically in the Viali belief section of the Undm document.) This is in the context of Serafina, in the Viali belief, heading up an effort among Immortals. She's making an attempt at a more focused and active group effort to help humankind survive and get along in a world besieged by otherworldly or overwhelming dangers. I can see how it might read as some sort of power scale with Serafina at the top which is as you mentioned not the case - Serafina is typically considered among the least of Immortals on the cosmic power scale, sometimes even being speculated to be an Ascended rather than a "true" Immortal. I'll try and figure out a way to re-word things to reduce confusion. She's the organizer of this particular cause among Immortals (according to the Viali at least), but that doesn't mean she has greater power or some kind of authority over the other Immortals involved - they just presumably agreed to be a part of the proposed cause in some capacity, and the Viali tend to have a more Serafina-focused perspective since she's their cultural patron Immortal and deliverer.

That makes more sense now. Alright, so a brief dive into the wiki, I think I have a list of some of the immortals who are part of this group.
Undm, Aphraen, Vandin, Nereia, and Naia. It appears that Bogvaskr was believed to have once been part of the Serafim, but was corrupted by his killing intent. I imagine some of these members are more loosely involved than others. Are there any others that I might've missed, or some of these that I am mistaken about?

I think I've a question which is on topic.

I'm curious about how Aphraen's gender is interpreted by the Faewyr in this version of things. The CLOK and COGG wikis seem to have conflicting information about this matter. For my part, I think that it is incredibly cool to have different peoples around Arad disagree on small things like that.
"There is an old song which says: 'Some take delight in the fishing and the bowling, others take delight in the carriages a-rolling …' Well, to tell the truth, I take great delight in singing. … Many a long mile I have shortened with a verse of a song on my travels, and my singing has taken me many a long mile around the world. In all the places I have been, I've found that people generally like to sing. Isn't it great that even in this age of push-button entertainment—no matter how lavish and wonderful it may be—most people still prefer to sing a song themselves?" —Tommy Makem
