(M: 155 vs D: 80 B: 130 P: 60) - These are the max rolls as explained on your combat guide.

By my math...
162+ (0-155d) =(162 - 317) - Max roll for the Laborer's Melee attack.
385 + (0-80d)= (385 - 465) - My defenses when using Tactic Dodge.
I don't understand how I'm still getting hit. There are several factors I can see as possibilities:
- I'm not understanding the rolls.
- I'm encumbered by wearing all plate armor.
- I'm losing it...
Issue with combat rolls.
I am under the impression that is a straight attack roll vs dodge roll (for the examples that you give). So the laborer is rolling a 162 sided die, where as you are defending with a 385 sided die. So while the advantage is in your favor for dodging, the laborer has roughly a 20 percent change of hitting you.
The numbers you see are simply the max number of sides for your die. That's how most every roll in this game works. So ...
An infested laborer swings a wooden mallet at you! (M: 162 vs D:385)
The laborer is rolling 0-162 versus your dodge roll of 0-385. You'll never get to a threshhold where you're completely safe. It's all about improving your odds. That is by design.

The lore compels me!
