After having played around with the new "Armor Deflection", and to a limited degree the Dreadnought parry changes (This is currently bugged. Raised it a few times now at this point. It was reset shortly after it was implemented due to the crash and then never fixed. As far as I'm aware, the Guardian one has been), it feels like what it is.

A band aid.

Heavy armor is still not in a great place and in terms of combat efficiency, you're still better off wearing a full suit of Ridgeleather vs Plate (Plate has only a minor resistance bonus, and it weighs a total of 55lbs for a suit vs 28lbs for Ridgeleather) and utilizing a shield as a Dreadnought is still better for every day use. You lose a little damage, but the survivability is just so much better.

It wouldn't surprise me that in terms of proper combat effectiveness in a serious fight as well, using a hand/half with a shield so you can utilize some abilities is going to be more useful. An extra defensive check is just too powerful in comparison to a minor DF bonus.

Dean also raised a very good point in regards to the brawling utilization earlier on as well, and definitely starting to feel those effects. Without any consistent way to focus train on it without putting yourself at a severe disadvantage, it just isn't very useful. Entirely possible new characters are finding it easier to manage due to my own skill gaps.
