Recomendation to reduce Barge waiting time
Recomendation to reduce Barge waiting time
Could the barge perhaps be set so that it doesn't move unless it has a passenger on it? Have it start moving 30 seconds after someone enters it perhaps. If someone is on the wrong side of the lake, have them pull or jerk the rope, or flash a lantern set up for the purpose, to get the barge moving to them.

Re: Recomendation to reduce Barge waiting time
I think a rope going across with bells attached to it might work, it'd make sense that they'd try and conserve what man power they have, but then again, it isn't just the players theoreticly using the barge, there's crowds of people going to and fro about their business, so if it didn't get put in, then I'd think that's also a reasonable argument.
Re: Recomendation to reduce Barge waiting time
Yeah that's the only problem with the idea, or biggest at least, that crowds of people are theoretically going back an forth across it. it would just be so much more convient this way..

Re: Recomendation to reduce Barge waiting time
Just because a PC isnt on there doesnt mean there arent people or cargo that needs to cross.
Re: Recomendation to reduce Barge waiting time
Current might be extra strong as well, or weather causing issues or... lots of stuff! And because Mistral is like the number one iron mine, wouldn't surprise me if there is a lot of business coming/out.

Re: Recomendation to reduce Barge waiting time
There's no current. One of the things that's always been clear is the water is eerily still. I'm all for the idea of adding a second barge or maybe a quicker light transport for people and the barge can be for heavier cargo like horses and wagons.
Re: Recomendation to reduce Barge waiting time
I'm all for a second barge, but I feel like this issue is something the PCs have to RP to resolve. Remember, the barge was a sort of last-second, free toss in. No one did anything to chip in to pay for operating costs, so the fact that they're not completely shutting the entire world out is nice on its own.
Re: Recomendation to reduce Barge waiting time
From what I understand, the barge was a long-standing back-up that they finally felt was necessary to employ. And I don't mind RPing. In-fact, I know Mascond has offered to help pay for or build a second barge over the pendant once already.
Re: Recomendation to reduce Barge waiting time
Isn't that water just referring to the lake itself, and not the river which is what the barge crosses?

Remember, Haiban was built in less than a week, and the barricade went up in under 10 minutes ;) Time in Clok can be funny sometimes.
