Curious, why do some plants give pp and other plants do not?

My guess is that it's most likely an issue with their difficulty in foraging. More difficult ones will offer points. Easy ones, not.

If it wouldn't net you skillgain, you won't get points.

Hmmm got me curious about gains and training, I thought my herbalism seemed to be going up rather slow for all the picking.

Hmmm does this mean that eventualy pp activities will all cease giving pp once reaching a certain experience level and tasks will be the only option of promotion points?

Herbalism will cap from foraging after a certain point and will no longer give you skillgains from foraging alone. From what I gathered from Rias, this will also mean no more promotion points from that skill, so you'll have to switch to making poultices to get skillgaings and PPs, as well remember there are plenty of other skills linked that will yield you PPs, so try a few of them out to see! Tasks are also good for riln and PPs, some guilds have only that option, others don't have that blessing. Snowpine is the glorious in-between!

It is a great blend of both.

I suppose I'm just to worried if I get lessons I'll train up to fast and run out of PP options. Really though there is a large selection of skills to gain from, and some have a huge window of skill increase.

Just remember that ability points never go away. So if there are abilities released, you will have access to them quickly assuming you have the prereq abilities. So keep that in mind as you plug away. I've hit that cap already on my mummer, but never fear, as time marches on, new abilities will get released :)
