Re: New Ability: Eavesdrop
Does it work in the wilderness?

Re: New Ability: Eavesdrop
Just a thought, even though this is seriously controversial. - passive ability: overhear whispered conversation, in fragments. Perception determines amount heard in fragments. low perception, a few words or letters or maybe syllabols. High perception, full words and sentences. - Or, just to keep it simple, just full whispered sentences.
Re: New Ability: Eavesdrop
I like the idea. I actually thought for the longest time that Eavesdrop allowed Utasa to listen to whispered conversations. Why isn't this a thing?! +1, screw your secrecy!
Re: New Ability: Eavesdrop
There was a different ability that allowed it back when they had wavebending years ago. This was for something else.
Re: New Ability: Eavesdrop
Ah, I misremembered what ability it was. With wavebending gone, I thought it was a mundane or was turned into a mundane ability. My statement that it should be reinstated holds, as I felt that was great for Utasa.
Re: New Ability: Eavesdrop
I agree. It should be worked into the ability to include whispered conversations, with that ability gone.Lun wrote:Ah, I misremembered what ability it was. Re: New Ability: Eavesdrop
I think overhearing whispers is a great idea.
I, however, don't really like the idea of it being used in the wilderness. I know we've heard several times (gms, weigh in?) that wilderness "rooms" are leagues apart. If someone can't even hear a whisper near-by, can they really hear a conversation at any level under a shout from over a mile away? Even if the whisper component is added, still seems a little out there. I'm okay if it's just one of those things we have to take with a grain of salt (like the speed at which undying travel) but it deserves at least a second of thought while munching an apple. (Apple optional).

Re: New Ability: Eavesdrop
I meant overhearing whispers in the same room.
I just kind of figured it's the same vein as listening through doors.

Re: New Ability: Eavesdrop
Agreed. It really doesn't make sense to listen into whispered conversations in the wild from the next room. It's more of an in towns thing, to overheard whispered conversations. Unless they're in the same room as you, in the wild.Lun wrote:I meant overhearing whispers in the same room.

Re: New Ability: Eavesdrop
It would be far more realistic to hear conversations in Mistral Lake when the Utasa is standing in Shadgard. That would be a reasonable ability, IMHO.
Re: New Ability: Eavesdrop
I believe that towns are Utasa's domain where Udemi are the outside people. There's some overlap but I thought that originally, it would make sense that their strength would be in towns.
