A Question About Healing Preference
A Question About Healing Preference
I've started this topic because I would like to know why so many turn down thaumaturgical healing. I play a Templar and often offer it, but just because I'm a Templar does not mean I cannot help with healing. I would be interested in knowing why people refuse.
I'm afraid I don't ask for healing out of habit, mostly. Partially due to the fact that I'm normally out of the way, and because I'm used to being out on my own.
However, I do always accept offered thaumaturgy based healing. Or bandages, typically, unless I have a reason to refuse a person's help in game.

“I will tell you precisely what Royalty is,” said Intra, “It is a continuous cutting motion.”
It depends on the character for me. Most of mine will always accept healing that's offered. One or two may not depending on their mood or the person doing the healing for RP reasons. Some characters like to be self-sufficient, want to practice first aid, or may just not like having strange magic being shot at them.
As you probably know, Lem eschews all spellcasting on principle.
I love finally finding a MUD (ours) where it is quite possible to opt-out of magic and still succeed. Other games, you might make it to level 6 without magic, then your progression was essentially shipwrecked unless you located a spellcaster and requested spells to be cast on you.

Unless I know there is someone who is near who wants to heal, I don't ask. I also tend to take care of my own wounds when I have the chance. Though, I cannot say I remember a time when I outright rejected healing.
The elements are slaves to no being. One must learn to ask for their aid, the elements offer power to the humble. This is why no one is truly a master yet everyone is a student..

I always reject healing. Dunno why.
20:21:01 [CHAT - (a mysterious GM)]: With obvious effort, Zuki pries up a thick scale over a drakolin's chest! Zuki spearhand-strikes the soft, unprotected area under the scale! Heart ruptured, death follows immediately. A drakolin lets out a final bellow of rage and falls lifeless to the ground.
I like turtles.
If someone is nether-tainted, they cannot endure Thaumaturgy.
I am not aware if this applies to the average character starting out in Corvus, or not...anybody know?
