This is a bug that I think has existed since COGG, but I and other players have noticed that if you're already shadow cloaked and re-apply it before it expires or is dismissed, the room still sees the effect being applied to your character by name rather than a shadowy figure. This makes it hard to not meta, since you the player get to see who's under the cloak, even if in-character, it should be seamless.
If this is actually intentional, and we aren't supposed to be able to keep a shadow cloak up indefinitely by re-casting it, maybe we shouldn't even be allowed to reapply it while the previous is still in effect?
Shadow cloak reapplication messaging
Re: Shadow cloak reapplication messaging
Per the changelog:
Fixed a bug where re-casting Shadow Cloak when already under the effect would unintentionally reveal the caster's identity as part of the cast messaging.

Re: Shadow cloak reapplication messaging
P.S. I do think there should be eventual increasingly adverse effects that prevent a shadow cloak from being kept up for too terribly long though, so expect something like that at some point!
