I often hear people ask what metals and gems can be found. These can now be found here:
Metals:

Gemstones:

This does not list where these can be found, or the skill required to mine them. If I told you that, it would ruin the fun of exploring and finding out for yourself!

No longer GMing for CLOK.
Obsidian and Zinc are the only two metals without descriptions, is something special about them?
Can Obsidian be used in forging weapons by itself?

The elements are slaves to no being. One must learn to ask for their aid, the elements offer power to the humble. This is why no one is truly a master yet everyone is a student..

If/when obsidian is able to be used to create a weapon it will likely be based on lapidary skill to create the blade...
Considering it would involve stone crafting.
I also only see this being able to work for small weapons. Daggers, Hatchets, arrowheads. etc.
You won't see a greatsword made of obsidian. Even if you managed to find such a large chunk, it would be quite fragile and would shatter against the first hard surface you swung it at.

Because this is what an obsidian sword is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macuahuitl
(It was a joke, though. Besides, there's plenty of people out there with high woodcrafting to make it for you instead.)
