i cannot connect to my account with /login --login or the connect command

Were you using your character name? You'd have to pick a different one if so.

There's a new account system. You need to create a unique account to associate with you. You can retrieve legacy characters inside your newly created account. An account is NOT your character, you can think of it like a folder with your characters being files inside.
