Mounts and Spotting

After many battles where their riders drag them into dangerous environments of threats of various shades, a mount develops a weariness of entities to sneak around in the shadows. Especially if their rider has a bad habit of being struck by such people/creatures. Being the lifeline between the attention going from their rider to themselves, mounts have now developed the forethought to point out stealthed entities for their rider. A happy breathing mounted combatant is a happy breathing warhorse.

So right, an ability that essentially allows the mount of a player to spot sneaky people in the shadows for their rider. Essentially, for horse loving folk, it serves as a second perception roll. For players in heavy armors, it serves as a more reliable perception roll. Honestly, I always found it strange that a horse wouldn't try to persue or go after folks fleeing into the shadows if they see something hide. Darn it, I feed you enough oats, help me out buddy.

Either this can be a part of War Riding, or a new skill requiring even more riding skill to obtain. Could be fun to hold trianing exercises for our mounts as well.

I'm against this. Horses and warhorses already seem to have a very large amount of perception, they don't need to turn into a way for players to forgo perception training.

In my experience, the only players who consistantly fight on warmounts all tend to have poor perception due to armor penalties. Other people lose too many useful abilities and bonuses to hop on a mount 24/7. It's still better for them to grind out perception while keeping other abilities.

Anyway, unless horses have a perception greater than 2500, it's still better for a player to max it out on their own if they're not going to be using a full helmet. Will still get better results from that, and keep non-mounted abilities and weighted rolls.

I still think warhorses are already enough of a benefit on their own. People should not be able to easily circumvent the closed face helmet perception loss. Those who wear full plate heavy armor are weak to those who use stealth. I don't believe it would be fair to just make entering a room with a warhorse a 40 percent chance to automatically be ousted from stealth. If this was to be implemented, warhorses and horses should have their max perception drastically reduced.
