blindndangerous and Fayne: I'm not familiar with who all the two of you play. Would you mind listing the main ones?

Sure thing!
EDIT: Added in another name.
Those are all the main characters I've played lately. I have one or two that are lesser known both IC and OOC, and then I have a few that used to be major characters who I haven't played for over a year. If there is demand for their names, I'll release them, but I figured I'd limit myself to the most likely characters to be asked about for now.Fayne

Fayne,
Thinking about it, I actually think picking back up the resen thread would be great. It totally makes sense within her character, you'd be able to possibly find support in more secret factions, it'd provide a huge boost to the Udemi giving them an active antagonist would probably make more people care, and it would be the best thing for Aleari. Right now, Aleari pretty much just wants to be totally open and trusting to everyone, and share the secrets of the Gaea with anyone who will listen, have fire circles and sing coombaya. Which, obviously, isn't super realistic for Arad. :P Having a former friend become a class A enemy would really force her to be more cautious about who she gives her trust to in a time where I think that will be really important. Plus, other than Dorn? possibly? Everyone is always really nice to Aleari, which is really nice, since I love the clok community, but having an antagonistic character, as long as I knew we were okay OOC, would be a lot of fun. And rather dramatic given how close we used to be.
On the topic of the GM's, I have to throw in my support as well. Everyone here has been absolutely amazing about taking player input and listening to suggestions, and helping to craft the best rp experience possible for everyone. Its only natural that they'd want to play in the world they created. And as long as they aren't boosting their skills with magical gm/wizard powers, which I have no reason to believe they are, then they have every right to play their character as they want. This mud is, without a doubt, the best I've ever played. It is the only one I have ever supported financially, and felt great about that decision. I'd love to see it stick around, and hate to see the GMs having so many problems just for wanting to enjoy the thing they created as anyone else would. Keep your head up, and know there are a huge number of people who love what you guys are doing and absolutely support you.
Also, Vaylon's devil-may-care RP is surprisingly fun. Honestly he cracks me up.
Finally, if anyone has any questions about Aleari, I'll answer what I can, though she's really pretty transparent ic anyway. Don't think either of my alts has really been around long enough for anyone to have questions, though I may post a character concept here soon for feedback.

Honestly if someone was throwing around threats and magic, maric would have attacked too.
I think there is this attitude that you have to be swinging a weapon to start a fight, but by that point, things have usually been startted for a while.

Yes, I agree 100%. CLOK is the most fun I've ever had with a MUD and the most fun I've had with a game in general in years. I hope it will continue to be around for a long time.Tangela wrote:On the topic of the GM's, I have to throw in my support as well. Aww. Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad to hear someone enjoys it! From early on, I thought it would be fun to have a light-hearted, smart aleck rascal.Tangela wrote:Also, Vaylon's devil-may-care RP is surprisingly fun. Honestly he cracks me up.
I honestly can't think of any questions for Aleari since Vaylon hasn't been around her much. The same goes for Cullen. And no other names look familiar to me, I'm afraid.

Re: Have roleplay-related questions about characters? Ask he
Have you seriously not interacted with any of my characters besides Fayne? This must be changed.
(Oh, and you have totally interacted with one of my alts that I haven't named yet)
EDIT: I wanted to mention that while Vaylon used to rub me the wrong way, that was actually mainly because things were starting to wear me down and I was taking things that happened with Fayne too personally. I want to be able to really interact with Vaylon again now that I've seperated myself once again so I can fairly judge his character without bias.

Re: Have roleplay-related questions about characters? Ask he
Perhaps it was something that I've only seen from time to time, or it was a phase in character groath, but, to me, the sexual innuendo Rp is kind of off-putting. I left a game because that was basicly all it was (dick jokes and [frak] yous), and to have that enter Clok even from one person seemed to me to be one of the reasons I've stepped back a bit and come around and stay to myself. So, to that, I agree with Konrad.
This isn't to say, though, that that hasn't changed -- and, if it hasn't, it's quite easy to ignore. I do enjoy reading your guys' posts about your characters. It gives that little interesting bit (Vaylon's story about the encounter for instance), and are fun to read. Also, it gives that light that even though my previous encounters with Vaylon have shown that portion of RP that I would rather not be around by making everything flirtatious or sexual in some form or another, that it isn't always the way it is, and to get behind it. If anyone wants to ask anything about Jake, feel free. I'm not willing to give away the other characters I play because some of them I play when I don't want to have anything to do with any of you, and enjoy myself for a while while I wait for laundry. Even though I have expressed my dislike of some RP, I'm not saying not to do it. I think the joy of RP is that of life. If I don't want to be around it, I won't. if I learn that there is more to things than meats the eye, I'm the fool. The way we roleplay is our own, and is what makes Clok the unique place it is, even with some people that have issues.
On the favoritism thing, I can sort of relate, however, in my dealing with the issue, I have come to a realization. I've never made this public.
On the whole gms play their characters, give them this one, guys. I mean seriously. they bust their asses for us for no compensation, for nothing other than the joy they get on seeing this game come to life and to give us all hours of enjoyment. They get paid back with crap like what I've seen on the boards, not just this time, but numerous times. Why can't they get enjoyment out of playing with us? I don't see Jirato, Vinz, Zoiya, Noctere or Celene going around flinging things left and right at people just because we're bros. It's really sad that just because a GM played her character and got the better of a player, they're throwing around "this is so unfairs."

Well said. I also had to laugh at you play your other characters when you're waiting for laundry. Cullen is my primary, but my others I get on when Cullen has gotten a bit bored for me, and I need a break. So the most you may have seen is Cullen or Everu. Isen and Corrin pop up every now and again, but I try not to fall into the trap of I have so many alts and all of them are newbie. If I get on a character, I try to stay on for a while, bring their skills up a bit, and if something comes up that they can jump in and help out with then more power to them. Since Isen sort of has a job now, he'll probably be coming around more to fufill it. But god that's going to be annoying. But, it'll get his skills up, and get him interacting with others. Corrin I get on when I wanna just tear crap apart.

Tentatively, I may be willing to discuss a little about Dorn. I prefer to mostly have my characters be a puzzle however so I'm not entirely sure just how much I'll actually reveal.

Orris likes to talk about his life and his past whenever people ask him or show any interest, so ask away! I still might write up some journals detailing some of his past sometime and post them on a wordpress or something.
Sometimes we faces challenges from other player characters and sometimes from the GM characters, and it's interesting to try and overcome them in our character's own way. We can all coexist here, and half the fun is seeing how people deal with everyone else around them, and dealing with that ourselves.

I'm so glad this thread was created. I Would love to answer any questions About Kalimn if anyone is interested in him and how he is and thinks. To Vaylon what motivates Vaylon to Be so out there He's very unique in that on the surface he doesn't seem to care, but wants others to care about him. Interests me a lot.
[ESP-GRAY - Shadowy-Gray]: No no (player) , you were right, it's wonderful. I think I'll send in my application today. I can't wait to partake in the parties there. I just have one question, will I need to kidnap my own child, or will there be some there for those who are un able to.
Re: Have roleplay-related questions about characters? Ask he
I think my main concern is always whether people feel like they are interacting with a whole new person when I play my alts, or if they feel like they're basically interacting with a single person with split personalities. I think the biggest fear I have is having a bunch of characters who are 99% the same. I welcome feedback and criticism.
And I also want to say that if anyone wants to create a new character and needs help coming up with a backstory, I'd be glad to help with that. I think the past few times I've created a character it was because I came up with a backstory that I liked so much I had to see it used, and that's by complete accident.

I feel this would be interesting to post here. This place really helps out people making characters and writing, and this survey in particular can really test how well you know your own character. Try to answer these questions about a character of yours if your want them to be a bit more transparent. Btw, for those who don't know, OC stands for original character. For bonus points answer the questions in character lol.

Okay, I seem to have missed something major here during my break... yikes.
Um, first off, sorry Vaylon, but I'm locking this thread. Feel free to create another one that hopefully won't get derailed like this one.
As for the whole GMs and the characters they play thing... Noctere pretty much hit the nail on the head there. If you can't trust us to keep our character lives separate from our GM lives, then that's kind of your problem. We have a very strict set of rules we follow, and none of our GM PCs have any sort of special powers or advantages over other PCs. Yes, we all play, some of us more than others, and we do get involved into conflicts on our PCs from time to time. That pretty much means jack squat though. When we're playing the game, we're just the same as you and any other player. There are no mechanical advantages we have over other players on our PCs. Yes, we know a lot of things, but I'd like to think we're professional enough to keep this knowledge separate from our roleplay. For example, when a new area with awesome exclusive stuff is released, we don't immediately log into our PCs and run there to be the first person to reap the benefits. Heck, often times we exclude ourselves from such things entirely.
Expressing your opinion (albeit very rudely) is not grounds for banning. However, I really think CLOK just isn't the game for you. You've been constantly coming to us with OOC complaints and requests for GM intervention and conflict resolution for situations your character is involved in, and clearly can't cope with any sort of antagonistic RP despite being in the most openly overt antagonistic guild in the game. Combined with your trust issues with the staff, I think it would be in both of our best interests if you just quit playing. Frankly, CLOK would be a better place without you.
