Drop in guild rank, lost ability

I was rank 13 and I had the ability Merchant's Eye.

Now I'm level 12, no longer have the ability, and still have the same pp (*edit)REQUIREMENT as I did at 13.

Doing a quick check it turns out Alwaren is a rank 3 monk, but only has 3 abilities. (abilities should be rank+1) This leads me to suspect an ability vanished with guild ability revamps. Can I get an ap reimburse?

2 weeks. Starting to suspect staff want Vitello to be pick-pocketed and ambushed. :`(

I see Alwaren is rank 3 and has 4 abilities.
Vitello is rank 12 and has 13 abilities.

As mechanics are and have been, it's impossible to go down a guild rank, outside someone manually "hacking" your character file and lowering it (likely while twisting their moustache and laughing evilly). Any chance you're misremembering?

Not sure about all that, but somewhere I also lost an ability on Maric. Not sure when it happened, but I noticed a few days ago when I went to learn a new ability, and one of my options was something I used to know

I'll never forget the pretty blue 50 the ability gave me in my skills list. Shortly after I got it I caught a very prominent thief trying to pickpocket me. Also I remember when it was new the amusement I found watching Raccoons sneak through Taureka.


When I first came back I wasn't aware of crafting gp (thanks for catching me up Skah) and swore off tasks. Resigned to go no farther I remember saying to myself rank 13 was a pretty good run all things considered.

The "blue" skills in the skills list are due to temporary active effects. Merchant's Eye is a permanent bonus that doesn't cause or look at active effects at all, so you may have been seeing a "blue" bonus from a Paranoia effect or something else that similarly raises Perception temporarily. Other artisans from ye olden days who had the Merchant's Eye ability back then still have it now after updates, that I can see. I'm wracking my brain trying to think of how a character (of any guild) could have gone down a guild rank and lost an ability that has never been removed from the game, but so far I'm coming up with nothing. I'll talk with the other GMs and see if they have any ideas.

Alwaren got the Basic Training ability before it was removed from the Monastic Order. He still enjoys the benefits (he got the skillgains from it) and still has it as a learned ability even though it's not showing up under the "guild" command because it's since become unavailable. This is the case for other monks who took the ability as well.

In the interest of being thorough, I searched through charfile backups from the month of June, 2014, which seems to be the month you started your break until your recent return. I searched for characters who knew the Merchant's Eye ability, but Vitello wasn't among them. Sorry man, but I'm going to have to chalk this one up to misremembering.

I'm guessing the ability in question is Preemptive Guardian. When you toggle it off (which it appears your character has it set to at the moment), it acts like you haven't learned it at all. I forgot about that bug. FYI, you can toggle it back on by using the command guard preempt.
