As you can see, this was a normal attack, not performed from hiding, yet I somehow managed to get successful stealth attacks on three of my four attacks that round. And yes, I did some testing, and it does in fact reduce their def rolls on occassion, as well as give small amounts of stealth skillgain. And no, this isn't related to the darkness bug, as it can and has occurred outside in the caravan as well. In fact, I first noticed it when fighting in the caravan. So light level does not seem to be a factor in it occurring. However, it does seem to happen more frequently in low lighting, and is more likely to occur on multi-attack rounds. I have had it happen on ever attack in a single round, but it usually skips the first one or two attacks.(Type stop to stop auto-battling.)
You attack an infested digger with your steel shortsword with a steel handguard and iron sabre!
shortsword (=) (M:144 vs D:152) Dodged!
sabre (++++) (!) (M:160 vs D:91) 9 slash damage - to the left hand, barely deflected by a pair of leather gloves.
shortsword (++) (!) (M:160 vs D:121) 30 slash damage to the right arm!
sabre (++++++) (!) (M:160 vs D:76) 25 slash damage - to the abdomen, barely deflected by a black leather cuirass.

Roundtime: 5 seconds.
Weird Stealth Bug?
Weird Stealth Bug?
So today, my swords suddenly started causing stealth checks on normal attacks. It's better to just show an example:
A scrawny alley cat stares after the dog with big green eyes.
Speaking to a scrawny alley cat, you ask, "Friend of yours?"
A scrawny alley cat hisses angrily.

Re: Weird Stealth Bug?
Fun Fact: Off-hand strikes can now catch foes unawares and lower their defense a bit similar to an ambush, hence the (!) in there. This is in response to some adjustments to two-weapon combat to reign it in a bit. More details to come once I'm done tweaking some things.
Are you sure you're getting stealth gains from it? We're all trying to duplicate that, but to no avail. (You shouldn't be getting stealth gains from the off-hand "ambush" attacks.)

The lore compels me!
Re: Weird Stealth Bug?
Yeah, they're very small gains. I went from 4.55 to 4.6 after fighting one mob. I don't think I did anything else that could have earned gains, and if I did, I dunno what it was.

Re: Weird Stealth Bug?
Also, I like the whole idea of offhanded weapons catching them unawares, but should it also be happening to my shortsword, which was held in my right hand?
