The Highwaymen Task

Post by jilliana »

I am really curious to know if this task has been changed other than the wording.

I thought it was just me with sucky rols, and thought it was going to get back to business as usual soon enough, but...it's still the same.

It feels like they've become two or three times harder to dispatch. I must admit to being hesitant to do this task mostly due to my hesitancy to kill them as well as the inability to drive them off or subdue them.

Another question comes to mind, and it's mostly asked for the desire for clarification.
Could it be that this particular task is harder to do because my skills have increased?

Looking foward to some answers! :)

As far as I know the task does scale in difficulty based on your own combat skills. It also increases from 1v1 to 1v2 to 1v3 as you get better. These tasks are definitely a challenge.

For strategy: I usually target the two more annoying of the assailants first and just trample one, then the other, then the first again. This keeps things fairly well locked down until they get too injured and leave. It greatly reduces the risk to you and the risk of accidentally killing them. Otherwise you end up being a pincushion and armor chinked far too much. Granted, I haven't done one of these since the recent change, but you just need to find a strategy that works for you.

That's exactly the method I was using.
Seems another method is in order. Thinking of upping my whip skill to see how that works out.

Highwaymen tasks haven't been changed at all, other than the wording for Templar. The skill of the highwaymen increases as yours does to keep it challenging no matter what, and as mentioned, the number of highwaymen eventually increases to 2, then 3. Wear your best armor and bring your warhorse.

Hints: Minor Beacon makes it harder for them to aim at you (lowers their accuracy), Zeal is super useful in taking them out quickly with higher chance of more hits, Strength of Spirit increases your damage reduction the more Thaumaturgy channels you have going, and Chant: Courage increases your chances of hitting them so you can take them out more quickly. Go get 'em, Tiger.

Thank you for the GM response.
Definitely looking forward to the changes to tasks and the guild overall. :)
