Trader Created Guild Tools

Post by Nootau »

I have been thinking of a way to work allow Traders to create what would normally be unique guild tool for the Claw of Shar and I would like to know what you think. Traders of different levels of the Blacksmithing Mastery chain could unlock the ability to craft specialized tools for other Guilds. To create these tools they will need to work with those other Guild because the Trader will not have access to the necessary materials to create the item, only member of the other Guild would be. A member of another Guild would gain access to the necessary materials by purchasing them from their own Quartermaster for a mixture of Riln and Guild Point. These materials could be bought directly from Quartermasters, such as specialized springs or gears, or indirectly through use of limited use molds or castings from the other Guild's Quartermaster.

I have thought of a detailed example of this with a Claw of Shar, I hope this better explains the intent.

Traders of the coalition who have the Guild Ability: Journeyman Blacksmithing, would reveal a new armor type to be created, serrated gauntlets. To make this item it required a completed metal gauntlet and a /set of serrated ligaments/. This unique item can made using a /fragile ligament mold/ which only Claw of Shar members can acquire. Claws of Shar can purchase the molds from their Quartermaster for a mix of Riln and Guild Points. This mold has only a few uses rather than infinite uses. Once the Trader has both the /set of serrated ligaments/ and the crafted metal gauntlet he will be able to forage the new item, which is a Claw of Shar specialized brawling weapon.

There seemed to be some confusion about the suggestion. I have edited the post to try and make things more clear. If there are any questions the idea, please post them here.

Well, on one hand, this is a good idea that makes sense because, hey, someone had to have made those unique guild items for them. On the other hand, it makes unique items limited available outside of the guild, do they aren't guild-exclusive anymore, just really difficult and expensive to obtain. Also, some guilds, like Udemi, don't really have any unique guild items that could be forged. Udemi have ankle and wrist sheaths for knives that make a little less sense not being able to be crafted by Udemi themselves. And Elemancers would really get the short end of the stick, since all of their unique items are magical and uncraftable in any way. I think this only makes sense with a few select items, and the rest, if this was instate, should be available to the guild members themselves to craft, like blood talismans for Rooks.
