Herb growth
Herb growth
I love the new herbal system, and the fact that things grow in more places.
What I find myself not liking so much is that when people go looking for certain herbs they don't forage away the rest of the herbs, making regrowth slower. I can understand why they wouldn't, because if you don't cook - why would you forage up mustard seeds and mint?
I was wondering if there was a way to make it so that cooking herbs and medicinal herbs are on a different kind of growing schedule? If someone forages up medicinal herbs, don't make it necessary for them to forage the cooking herbs for the regrowth to cycle.
I recently went through two areas and completely foraged out anything there, just so I could get comfrey, but by the time I was able to check on it again the comfrey was gone. Now I have so many cooking herbs that I had to buy a backpack just to have a place to put them, and I still don't have any comfrey or arnica for bandages.

[FROM Rias (OOC)]: Jaster can now pick the lock on your bathroom door. I don't want any more details on that bug report.
You ask, "Are we there yet?"
Bryce angrily says, "I will turn this horse RIGHT AROUND."

One thing I noticed is that if I just type FORAGE I only forage for things that can be eaten. So to get rid of the non edible stuff like mustard seeds, I have to forage for them specifically.
I go through my own favorite foraging areas and forage out everything to help regrowth, I kind of like it that way but that's just me. It means it takes some tactics if you will in order to get the herbs you need.
A cool improvement would be that let's say I forage up everything in a room but comfrey. That comfrey could then increase the chances that more comfrey would grow there instead of something else. So you could cultivate your own little gardens almost, and weed out the stuff you don't like. Then always forage everything except leave 1 of the herb you want, so that it has greater chances of growing more of it there.

I like the tactics of herb growth as well, but for someone who has limited playtime and constant herb tasks that can never be completed, it's frustrating.
If this is something that isn't going to be changed, can herbalists at least clear out a room when they're foraging so that the 1 percent who can't check on an area 5 times a day can find herbs that are needed? Thanks in advance.

I've been trying to clean up some areas tonight. Every time I forage up some thornberries, I think:

Here's a suggestion, what if, prvoided you have enough herbalism skill, you could CULTIVATE (herb) and that would make it more likely to grow in that room and more quickly for a certain amount of time. Obviously at least one would have to be there. It would be kind of like weeding a plot, you get rid of contending growth around the herb that's there, as well as get rid of any other debris that could get in the way, and cultivate the soil to be more receptive to herb growth.
For instance I could go to a room where comfrey grows (preferably one out of the way that others are unlikely to come across and ruin) and I would CULTIVATE COMFREY, then for say 42 hours comfrey is more likely to grow there than other herbs that would normally grow there. It could possibly slightly increase the maximum capacity for that herb as well.
Edit: Skill in farming could increase the effectiveness of this too, as an added bonus for farmers.

Some more changes: mint et al should be less plentiful, comfrey more.
Stuff I did a while ago: dirt is slightly more available for things like yora root, foliage also for things like redleaf. I'm going to look at adding some water to the wilderness besides rivers (apparently ponds, streams, and creeks don't exist).

A cheerful jingle intones, "Rithenschmirtz Evil Incorporateeeed!"
