Of drying racks and missing items

FYI, I've looked over the code quite extensively, and found that the pottery system as very harsh and unforgiving.

If you notice an item you placed on the rack to dry is missing, and are fairly confident that none of your fellow potter players have picked it up and ran away with it, then please note that is not necessarily a bug. Items that are not tempered properly (too much sand or not enough sand), will shatter when drying is complete. If they are over a certain weight threshold, you may be left with a dried clay shard on the rack, but for smaller pieces, they will simply be gone.

This is intentional, and judging from the wording on the wiki, I believe the exact tempering ratio and process was meant to be a bit of a puzzle for players to figure out. Good luck!

Because I think it is a bit too unforgiving, I will give this slight hint:

All small lumps of wet clay are 1 pound.
All handfuls of coarse sand are 0.1 pounds.

Fair enough. How long does the drying process work, if you're willing to say? Is it like 10 minutes so that you can quickly see whether you need to be doing something different, or more like an hour/multiple hours?

It's a bit under 8 hours.
