Dreadnought... Punch!
Since Templars have access to Dreadnought as a class, and hostile creatures and enemies or accidental targeting by players happens, would it be possible to implement an option to disable the counterattack?

You should be able to accomplish this by disabling the ability/tactic responsible.
Depending on the source of your counterattacks. Guardians have this problem, too.
