SLEEP Command

Hi,

Simple request, today. I like to leave my connection open over night in MUDs. But in this game, it drains morale. Could we have a SLEEP command that suspends morale loss and maybe even lets you gain morale as if you had logged out once it ends? It could just work like AFK, where a command breaks it.

How would sleeping be different than logging out? For example, if there is a sleep command, I would not expect things like ESP, says, or similar things to be received. It would basically be like the account screen as far as what you are able to do and receive.

Why? What if I also just want to go sit in my room and watch stuff while I do other things and not lose a bunch of morale? Doesn't seem like it needs to knock out all of someone's functionality. People are capable of realizing that they probably shouldn't react to something two hours before they woke up.

I'm not really understanding the point of this request either, beyond having a way to listen to pendant chatter 24/7 without incurring morale loss - which seems counter intuitive to the design of morale stabilizing at 0 intentionally. This would also incentivize people to keep their PCs logged in 24/7 specifically for the benefit of listening to pendant chatter which seems like an unhealthy thing to incentivize (I imagine if Rias wanted us to have unlimited Pendant backlog he would have given it to us with the Aura History feature).

I'm also really not understanding why townsfolk are having such a hard time managing their morale. The only time my townie has ever dropped close to 0 was right after the starving morale penalties - even when I log in to be a bit cheeky and listen to pendants/chat during work, the lowest it's ever gotten is around 2 which is pretty easy to remedy with town amenities that are available.

If you want to listen to pendant chatter, I'm not judging - I'm just failing to see why you can't already do that.

That's not really why, I just come from games where characters stay constant in the world, even when logged out, and things like that. I personally like it for the asthetic, and being able to hop off, go to bed and hop right back on in the morning. I do agree that people might be weird about it, though, which is fair.

And I literally am on all day, which is why I struggle with morale, sometimes. But I also don't step out of conversations to go make sure my morale stays as high as I can get it so the decay never takes me under a threshold where I can't max it, so that's my bad.

That's a really weirdly specific thing to reference out of the blue - I never said that's what you had to do. Just that the town amenities available make it pretty trivial to keep morale pretty close to max once you've got enough of a grasp on the game to keep an innroom rented out. But you're correct, you don't get the benefit of the morale bonus unless your PC actually goes to sleep.

I was just... giving my personal experience? We were talking about people who struggle with morale, and I do, from time to time, so I figured my input might be valid here.

Well, then my advice as a long time player would be to log out to the account screen so you can get the full morale benefit of renting an inn room :)
