Build list and hammer

Been thinking of posting this for quite a while but kept forgetting. It seems that the build command only works when one has work hammer on hand, including build list too which I think is unnecessary because build list is just to check which furniture requires which materials. It's kind of fuzzy to have a hammer on hand just to check for build list, not actually build anything.
I can understand though if it's something code based. Just asking if there's a way that allows it without hammer, or at least allow handsaw or something.
