yetis skinnable?

I noticed one mass produced event item mentioned yeti fur as an adornment. I tried skinning a normal yeti, but could not. Could we make yetis skinnable? same for infested yetis, though lower qualities.

I'd like to see this too.

I find this somewhat barbaric, similar to skinning gorillas.

However, if that's the direction we want to go on, why not scalp humans as well? It wasn't so long ago in North America that scalping bounties were available (look up Lord Cornwallis).

totally barbaric. like vests made from real gorilla chest. Please feel free to also add human scalping. Leathercrafting of player skins would be a little bit creepy though. And by a little bit, I mean a whole lot.

I want to wear a human-skin suit of my most hated enemy on Clok.

I'm a real creep.

Some people are just going to find that too grotesque. Likely why player ears were removed. Personally, I'd have no issue with human-skin, scalps, whatever. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest, if there are some of these items already in game. I know one mob at least with wight-skin. But, like I said... if ears got removed, can't see this ever becoming a thing.

At the same time, Yetis are mythical, large, beasts with a fur that is used already in game. If yetis are unskinnable, why is there yeti-fur items? One or the other has to be an oversight. Either the fur shouldn't be in the game, or let the players at it.

I'd prefer to collect eyes over ears. But again..

I'm a real creep.

The yeti fur items up for purchase are white. They come from the very rare snow yeti, which has a thick, luxurious coat of white fur. It's a highly valuable commodity, due both to its rarity and to the fact that you have to, you know, actually take down a snow yeti (more likely the people find one sick, injured, old, or already dead). I personally find it rather gross to consider skinning a yeti (and many other things that are currently skinnable, frankly), but that doesn't necessarily mean it shouldn't be an option. Some people are fine mass slaughtering tuna but become outraged at the idea of killing a dolphin. Not saying that's wrong. The point is that it'd be kind of hard to base skinnability on some hazy sense of morality or ethics, when that can vary so greatly from person to person.

Crag yeti have very sparse hair, rather than anything that could be even remotely considered "fur". The knoll yeti commonly huntable are infested, and have matted patches of scraggly hair interspersed with the usual fungusy stuff infested tend to sport. That's why they're both not skinnable - their hides are neither useful nor appreciable commodities. You can just assume their skin alone doesn't make quality leather for whatever reason. Maybe it's toxic or something. Maybe it decays real quickly. Gross.

We could make every single creature skinnable because it's technically possible to rip the skin/scales/fur/carapace/exoskeleton/hide/etc. off of just about anything living. But I wouldn't, because that seems silly to me when the resulting product isn't going to be useful and isn't going to be valuable. I can just imagine the irresistible urge for some PCs to go around killing townsfolk and important NPCs just so they can turn their skins into grisly suits and go around bragging or something. I think most people know how grumpy I get when people kill important nonhostile NPCs just to get themselves some street cred.

Anyway. Who knows? Some other GM might be convinced to go on a make-every-critter-skinnable crusade. I only speak for myself.

P.S. The ears upon death were taken out because it was goofy that you could magically tell who the ear came from at a glance (they showed up as "a Rias ear", "an Elizamor ear" and so forth).

Fair enough, Rias thought in regards to infested creatures that doesn't stop us from skinning other infested. It just always ensures the pelts suck.

Yes, you can still get pelts from infested creatures, as long as it's a type of creature that's normally skinnable. Nobody would be interested in a knoll yeti hide from even an uninfested one (they're gross even when resen-free). "Nobody" meaning "the 99.9% of the world population outside the clearly insane PCs". So, being infested just makes that even moreso the case.

I still want to collect eyes. That would be fun.

an eyeball with a ice-blue iris suspended in a liquid-filled jar

Not a game-breaking ear, telling people's names, but still identifiable if you know people.

Fun.

*Noctere looks at his large jar filled with clear liquid high atop his shelves of evil. Inside is a single human eyeball floating crookedly to one side. Its singular gaze is old, cranky and ill-humored. Perhaps it belonged to someone whom did not like jokes or had grown too curmudgeonly through the years.*
