banned bodies

is there any chance the guards can stop us from bringing in the bodies of those who have been banned from a town? It would help save a lot of time, and help avoid situations where a player raises a body only to have that person gunned down in the church. Not that that wasn't exciting.

The only problem I see with this is the lore behind the Undying. Nothing says that the next time we die won't be our last. I don't think the bodies themselves should be banned from town, but rather they should be banned from any attempts at resurrection. Perhaps the guards could notify you that no attempt will be made to raise the person you are dragging when you enter the town.

From what I was told, if you bring a corpse of someone who has upset the faction your trying to have them raised in. They will refuse the raise that person (To keep things from happening as you just described.)

In this case, it was a player raise inside banned territory. Someone didn't know Dorn ain't welcome round some parts due to his award winning personality.

This seems a little out of sorts considering the Church is supposed to be a place of quiet meditation (according to Dimmes in the latest newspaper). I understand the need for justice systems to be in place but perhaps the right suggestion is for the guards to prevent the body from coming into town rather than someone being wrecked inside the Church.

Alright then...that is something that needs to be looked into then!

Heh heh! I believe that's the mechanic where, if you're in a town you're exiled from, there's a chance NPC crowds will call for the guards. That it happened in the church is funny, but yeah, maybe something should be special-cased for that situation.

What about having them escorted out of town by a group of guards? That way there's no killing in the church, and those who save people don't have to drag someone all the way to the gate of Shadgard just to diacover that, hey, they won't even let me drag this body through the gate. It'd also give the justice system something that isn't kill or arrest.

I imagine that should depend on the person. I imagine Jaster and his legendary stealth has gotten him banned from some towns, and if I were a guard captain, I wouldn't trust a half-dozen of my best men to get him to the gate and out without losing him in a crowd. I'd feel similarly about anyone banned for massacring large amounts of people, including guards by the half-dozen.

That could be solved by having levels beyond 'banned' for the faction relationship. Which I'm sure there are. But if not, just banned could be "Stay the hell out of our territory and we won't have to murder you", and then there could be further levels beyond that, for when you've REALLY pissed them off. Like hunted, where they want to see you dead and stay dead, and will actually chase you -beyond- the territory a short distance (barring some guards that have to stay put (or not. DISTRACTIONS!))
