Dyes

Hey I was just thinking of the crafts that are in the game so far and others that I would like to see: tattoos, leatherworking, tailoring, etc. I was thinking that in order to implement some of the things I just mentioned that we would need a way to have colors. So I looked up a method of making dyes via plants and found this site: http://www.pioneerthinking.com/crafts/c ... ldyes.html

Basically if we did something like:

forage barberry
put barberry in mortar
crush mortar (uses a pestle to crush the plant, could be made in woodworking)
empty mortar into bucket (could be made in woodworking)
pour vinegar into bucket (this can even be made by farmers that grow apples or grains)
dip leather into bucket
dry leather
use leather to make such and such
or empty the bucket into a vial and use it in a tattooing process

This was just a quick off the top of my head thing, I’m sure more steps could go into the process.

I'm actually working on crushing herbs (well thinking about it - I'll start working on it after fletching), more for medicinal and poison purpose, but it could potentially lead to dyes, too.

Are there any plans to make an Alchemy profession?

If you mean alchemy in the form of making various potions, then yes. Turning lead to gold, not so much.

Yeah I meant a potion maker. Although the thought of a "Fullmetal Alchemist" alchemist going around with a giant steel companion turning lead into gold does make me giggle.

Turning lead into gold is easy. Just remove 3 protons.

Alchemist potions might be used... aggressively.Say a fire potion or a frost potion. There could be differences between DRINKING and SPRAYing or throwing a potion.Drinking fire for instance reduces frost or cold type damage while increasing heat and fire types while spraying would damage a foe less than throwing however throwing would use up the potion.

Being able to throw potions would mesh really well with the Utasa guild I think (As they are supposed to excel at two weapon fighting, small blades, and hurling weapons)

Throwable potions/vials would definitely be nifty. I already have them planned to be useable in some traps.

Alchemist Fire + Lockblade trap would be awesome.
