- I noticed blacksmiths can repair items but would it be possible to reforge an item to improve its quality? It would be subject to the same skill rolls as making an item from scratch and should not work on crafted items. (would also have a chance to break the item) This is basically a way to improve existing special items like my fancy armor. It might also make sense to require additional materials of the same type to reforge an item.

I think you'll have to ask a PC trader to sell you the recipe.
