Encumbrance Dodge Penalty

(OOC) ANNOUNCEMENT: Dodge rolls are now significantly affected by weight encumbrance.
Is this penalty represented in our rolls or is it a "silent" penalty? I ask because my rolls as displayed seem much the same, but I am definitely dodging less than I was before.

Hmmm... This likely means very bad things for those times I get a rucksack full of loot.

It isn't reflected in the displayed maximum potential roll numbers (and it doesn't affect challenge calculations, so don't everyone rush to weigh yourselves down so you can continue to grind your 1000+ skills in Tarueka).

Yeah, if you're stumbling under the weight of the 20 boxes you found, you should probably go unload them somewhere.

The penalties kick in very slightly at "You're not carrying too much, you should be able to move about fairly unburdened." but increase dramatically at further tiers.

Does this also affect our chances of successfully disengaging or fleeing? It seems like it does.

It doesn't, but it probably should.

What does? Because it really does seem like it has gotten more difficult.

How many people you're being attacked by, whether you're mounted, your Melee or Marksmanship skill (whichever is applicable - we sort of assume that marksmanship skill includes ranged combat experience and tricks for disengaging from melee), and how tired you are, if at all.

A few abilities can help break away easier as well, such as Guerilla Tactics and Multi-Opponent Combat.

Nothing in the equation has changed for a very long time, as far as I'm aware. If you're fighting stuff tougher than you have before, that could account for it being more difficult for you recently. Also note that some creatures have a particularly high Melee skill and depend on it more than specific weapon skills. Canim are an example of this, and they're typically harder to get away from/avoid combat with because of it.
