Vanity

Would it be possible to hide all your "necessary bag" gear from view? For example if you have a backpack, satchel, and belt pouch I think you should be able to hide those from view or otherwise keep them off of your main char description unless you are a thief and you can "case" those things upon me.

The reason being is of course pure "vanity" ie making your char description look pretty. Or maybe this could work if we had a separate description area just for containers.

for example: Right now Jaren is:

Original:

You see Jaren.
He is about six feet tall and appears to be in the prime of life. His hair and eyes are concealed by a shadowy black hood. His skin is pale and his body's build is average.
You are holding an ice-barbed wavy copper flamberge in your right hand.
He is wearing a shadowy black hood, a blood talisman, a black oilcloth satchel, a leather baldric, a black many-pocketed canvas backpack, a black rune-etched robe, a black and gold signet ring, a black leather belt, a black canvas pouch, some black loose cotton trousers and a pair of bronze-toed leather shoes.

He is surrounded by swirling inky-black shadows.
Option 2 with containers hidden:

You see Jaren.
He is about six feet tall and appears to be in the prime of life. His hair and eyes are concealed by a shadowy black hood. His skin is pale and his body's build is average.
You are holding an ice-barbed wavy copper flamberge in your right hand.
He is wearing a shadowy black hood, a blood talisman, a black rune-etched robe, a black and gold signet ring, a black leather belt, some black loose cotton trousers and a pair of bronze-toed leather shoes.

He is surrounded by swirling inky-black shadows.
Option 3 with separate container area:

You see Jaren.
He is about six feet tall and appears to be in the prime of life. His hair and eyes are concealed by a shadowy black hood. His skin is pale and his body's build is average.
You are holding an ice-barbed wavy copper flamberge in your right hand.

Containers:
a black many-pocketed canvas backpack, a black oilcloth satchel, a leather baldric, a black canvas pouch,

He is surrounded by swirling inky-black shadows.
What you guys think?
(edit: I just noticed I put this post in the wrong section...sorry. Please feel free to move it)

I agree that having the 'necessary but un-pretty' containers and such can be troublesome when you're going for a good look. I'm torn, because on the one hand, I have characters I'd like to hide them on, but on the other hand, I think it'd be silly to have them be 'invisible' containers. Option 3 is what I'd lean toward, currently, though it still doesn't quite sit well with me.

Then there's the idea of spells to help mitigate the problem ... a reanimated minion carrying your stuff for you, or some kind of minor spacial rift to turn a suitable garment into a large container (robes, cloaks, coats, etc.). This would only help casters, of course, but that'd be a perk of using magic, I suppose. I could see Sorcerers, Elemancers and Utasa in particular with spells to achieve these ends in their own differing ways.

And now that I think about it, Sorcerers could use that "minor spacial rift" enchantment on garments and sell them, or at least sell the service. It would probably be an expensive and somewhat time-consuming process considering the nice permanent result, but I think it would be really neat.

You could have that enchantment on a timer, only available every X hours played.

I don't like the third option because the things like the coats/robes that are containers would look strange bunched with the bags. What about making cooler looking backpacks instead? ;P

I think cooler-looking containers, spells to get around the issue, and special items are the way to go.

Sorcs will be able to make bags of holding o.O?!

Probably so.

The only downside to that is most people in Shadgaard wouldn't actually be able to make use of that service, due to the sorcerer's reputation.
