Breakage

We're making this post because Rias and I want everybody to be prepared when this goes live.
I'm working on breakage right now. It will likely take a while, but you can expect weapon breakage to go live within the next couple of months. There will also likely be some changes to armor breakage and repair. When stuff goes live, we will provide more details, but for now you can start wrapping your heads around the following things which will likely be painful:
1) If something breaks, it will be broken. You will not be able to repair it.
2) While some breakage will be avoidable by keeping your weapons and armor in good repair, there will be a chance for catastrophic failure. This chance will increase over time as you repeatedly repair your item.
3) As an item degrades (even if you repair it) it will become more likely to break.
4) Degraded items will do less damage, so you will have incentive to keep your weapons well maintained.
That's the bad news; here's some good news:
1) With this live, we will be more willing to release materials or items that are super cool since we know they won't stick around forever. We're not saying this will happen often, but it will happen.
2) Crafters will become more in demand, and your crafting skills will be worth more.
3) We will have incentive to bring merchants around more often.
4) This gives us an incentive to expand the customization for forging, carving, and leatherworking.
5) Certain guilds will get abilities to allow them to maintain their own gear.
