Weapon Merchant Question

I love when the NPC merchants come around but as a magic user I don't always find weapons too useful. So this is my question. Would I be able to combine a hawthorn staff from the university (which can cast air spells) with a bloodglass spear with a hawthorn haft to form a spear which can cast the same aero spell as the staff? Lore wise I could see it as removing the spearhead and attaching it to the staff or moving the enchant from the staff to the spear, would this be considered a kosher request for a Merchant?
