thorn damage scaling with druidry proficiency

Post by Tangela »

Hi,

I've been thinking about other things besides rooting and thorns that druidry could be used for in combat to make grinding it more interesting, but in the meantime, could thorns scale, doing a little more damage as your proficiency with it goes up? Maybe every hundred points or so, or even just every druidry channel?

What do you all think?

Druidry is largely meant to be a non-combat realm of magic, focusing more on utility than causing actual straight up damage. The damage from the bramble tangle spell is meant more of a minor perk than the focus of the ability.

I see. Then what about other ways of raising druidry?

Specifically requesting cultivation tasks?

Giving druidry gains for any cultivation wouldn't really make sense, because then druids could cultivate, say, atlas stem endlessly until they hit the cultivation limit, and basically gain near infinite money. Plus, mucking about so much with the environment outside the request of a trained druid might not be a good thing to reward with druidry gains.

If rituals weren't so unique, they might be worth rewarding with druidry skill, but I doubt that could be done right now.

Also, is there a reason/is it intentional that you can root multiple targets, but can't thorn multiple targets?

If you try, it just says there are already roots in the area.

I'll have to look into that.
