Every day, nearly 100% of the varhounds used to assist the Mistral Lake Sentries are slaughtered pathetically and need to be replaced.

This is cruelty to animals. Even if you don't care about dogs, then this can't be good business, except for the breeder's pocket.

In arms-developed Mistral Lake, why can't there be iron armor provided to the hounds to give them a fighting chance to live? They don't even have a spiked collar.

I submit a few photos for your consideration:

Fitting dogs with metal armor is not going to happen. They tend to die from bleeding or attrition over time, and could be spared by giving them the "runs off to find healing" action like most human guards and sentries have.
