Rubble/Collapse Update

So, after some discussion an update has been made to collapses.

Good news:
When a collapse occurs, the rubble will no longer destroy any existing veins. Yay!
The chance for a collapse has been decreased. Yay!

Bad news:
The rubble will no longer dissapear due to the janitor. Boo!
You will now have to DIG to remove rubble before the area can be mined again. Boo!

This applies to all mines equally.

I like this. Can I collect the rubble and sell it to people?

No, the rubble is worthless dirt and stone and whatever else falls down on your face during a collapse. Once you dig the area clear again it will be gone, allowing you to continue mining.

Wouldn't this sort of dirt be well...Useful? For fortifications and stuff like that.

No.

Fortifications for what exactly? o.O

Reinforcing gates in time of invasion, filling stone walls(If you can't find enough rocks/stones). Amongst others.

I think people should be allowed to hoard the precious rubble and keep it in their homes where they can then talk to it and admire it's great worth for hours and hours. Maybe we can start a "Church of the Holy Rubble".

Now chant with me!
"rubble.... rubble.......... rubble.... rubble.......... "

Considering this is a pile of shattered rock and dirt with no structural integrity, creating reinforcements out of this material would be highly ineffective. Considering it already collapsed on your head once, do you really want it to do so again?

It makes good filling for walls. The gates are reinforced by the rubble being piled up against it which makes them harder to ram down.

Well, the gate in Shadgard is gone, and I don't think gates like that will be coming back. As for wall filling, that might come into play when there's stone masonry I guess, but I have a feeling that's a while off.

Get an empty barrel, put the rubble in the barrel, pour in a bag of mortar, put in some water, get a stick or something to mix the stuff on the barrel until you get cement and use that stuff to reinforce the walls of the mine to ensure even less future cave-ins. Then go fire the carpenter. Cement is better than wood.

Until "Cement Termites" are implemented. :D

Digging the rubble away does not give mining skill. Is this intended?

So I see the response "You're going to need to be holding a spade, first of all." when I tried to dig for the first time. I think to myself, spade..spade...spade....Ah! the Scarecrow Farmers tend to carry spades! I run off to the farm and convince one of them to give me "a tarnished copper spade". I run back to the mine in Shadgard to clean up the mine, and get "You're going to need to be holding a spade, first of all." So why is a spade not a spade?

Eh, I'll see about updating stuff so that those spades also work. Those scarecrows were the first actual hunting ground, and as such the spades they attack with weren't ever actually updated to work with digging. My fault.

This has now been corrected.

That sounds like a great riddle, by the way.
