I should like to point out that it was never possible to catch fish while hiding (at least as long as I've been around). It was impossible to cast a fishing line while hidden, and though it was possible to use the spearfish verb to watch fish while hidden, attempting to catch them with the spearfish verb while hidden rendered a message about not being able to do that while hidden. I think it makes perfect sense to be able to see fish swim by while hidden, but that's just me.
