Spearfishing!

I'm really excited to try this out! Do places require updating for spearfishing? I'm just asking because I've tried in several fishing areas and I'm told I can't spearfish there. I was hoping to find success in the rivers by Tarueka and the Woodland Trail, where you can stand in the river itself, but no luck. I haven't tried Stone Canyon since it's too dangerous for me to go alone.

Did this get easier? It seems like I get a fish every couple seconds, it feels like cheating.
