Since folks can just come along and take your crops out in the wild, is there any chance that some homes are available with plots to farm where others can't take your produce?

There is always a chance that someone may take advantage of your hard work. There is only one home with a farm plot and that home is no longer available for purchase, nor will it be available in the future.

Note that the mentioned home's farm plots aren't exclusive to the homeowner - anyone can go to them (and pillage them). I don't see barricading off and locking up an entire farm field as something very practical or likely to be implemented, sorry.
