Arrow Sizes

Post by Nootau »

Is there a difference between an arrow carved from a large branch, a medium branch and a short branch?

You can only carve them from small branches.

'Arrows' carved from large branches are something we call a 'spear' around these parts.
No longer GMing for CLOK.

In real life the bigger the arrow the more flexible it is. So a large arrow would be impractical because it would bend and be far more likely to miss.

My data disagrees with this finding..
(Type stop to stop auto-carving.)
You continue carving away at a medium straight pine stave with your dagger, intent on it ending up as an arrow shaft.
You've finished your carving, leaving you holding a rough-carved pine arrow shaft.
Roundtime: 3 seconds.

Can you add spears as carvable items?

Fishing poles from medium branches would be extremely welcome as well.

[FROM Rias (OOC)]: Jaster can now pick the lock on your bathroom door. I don't want any more details on that bug report.
You ask, "Are we there yet?"
Bryce angrily says, "I will turn this horse RIGHT AROUND."
Speaking to you, Jaster exclaims, "Compassion, Sister Lae!"

Arrow from medium branches should have an accuracy penalty.

Well then, that's something new to me. I've always used small staves. I assume it's a bug.

Secondly, just because it's carved from a larger stave doesn't mean it's a larger arrow. It just means you waste more wood.

That would be uneconomical. Although admittedly it could be done. But a larger arrow should still have an accuracy penalty.

This.

And carving doesn't account for a spearhead. So no carving spears right now as there's a difference between a well made spear and a pointy stick.

Can larger sticks be [SPLIT] into smaller ones?

What about wooden javelins then? Long pointy sticks made for throwing.

You can now only make arrow shafts from small branches, as was originally intended.

You can't put anything inside the pants.
