Additional Customization Options

Post by Noctere »

in reference to this post.

If any of you would like to post some 'specific' ideas for more customization options, please post them below. Remember to be specific and provide us a list of options as if it was going to be cut and paste into the game (which it might be). We are looking for a list of textures, adornments or any other kind of customization options you can think of that would be reasonable.

FYI, There are better odds of this hopping off the to-do list if some of the work is already done for us here.

I've got a few ideas:

Adornments:
Armor:
Breastplate:
Left/right insignia - with an insignia over the left/right breast.
Helm:
Horned - with curved horns coming from the sides.
Winged - with stylized wings attached to the sides.
Ridged - with a raised ridge running down the middle.
Finned - With a large, flat fin running down the middle.
Boots:
Spiked - With spikes on the toes.
Winged - with stylized wings on the ankles.
Gauntlets:
Studded - studded around the wrist.
Spiked - with thin spikes around the wrist.
Runes - with a single rune etched on the back.
Bejeweled - adorned with gems on the knuckles.

Weapons:
Swords:
Basket-hilt - with a hilt shaped to encompass the wielder's hand.
Bejeweled - adorneon the hilt by a single gem.
Etched - etched along the blade with runes.
Gripped - with leather strips criss-crossing the handle.
Leather-wrapped - with leather strips wrpped tightly around the handle.

Blunted weapons:
Gripped
Leather-wrapped

Shields:
designs - with intricate swirls and lines etched along its surface.
Depicted - with a scene of battle depicted on it's surface.
Spiked - with tiny spikes affixed along the outside edge.
Studded - outlined in large, bumpy studs.
Coat - displaying a coat of arms etched into its face.

Textures:
Weapons:
Swords:
Single-bladed - sharpened along a single edge.
Axes:
Double- sided

Thesecare the ideas I have off the top of my head without much though put into it. I'm sure I can come up with more at a later time.

Just FYI: anything sharp, shiny, polished or similar will not work, since it doesn't make sense to have a battered polished sword or whatever.

Another one I think we should have access to is 'blackened'.

I think I might go browse some of the blacksmith shops around the lands tomorrow and pick my favorite customization options to add here. I know there are some that I have wanted the ability to add to my owm weapons, I just can't think of any of them right off the top of my head.

For blades:
Serrated. Serrated is always fun.
Also, blood-grooved. It helps keep your blade clean.

I looked up armor on wikipedia last night searching for ideas, and instead of what I was looking for, I got a totally different idea. It deems that pretty much fluting was the only way they changed armor like 'texture' would, aside from maybe parade armor, which was highly decorated with fluting and other designs, which actually made it better suited for combat. However, fluting made armor expensive because it took a lot of time and skill to do. Therefore, I propose that changing the texture of a piece of armor by making it fluted should cost a considerable amount of RT, perhaps 60 seconds or more, like jewelrycrafting.

Daggers could have the option of being either long-bladed or short-bladed. I don't think this would really affect mechanics in any way. I believe I have seen the option somewhere to customize a dagger to be long-bladed in one of the stores.

I'm really excited for these to get added. I hope we can provide enough ideas to get this released soon.

Armor could be customized to be "fitted". It could still act just as normal armor, but any good RP'ers could pretend that they can't wear it because it is made to fit the owner like a glove.
