Idea for lore appropriate ice barbs

I've been thinking about this for a bit but with the recent removal of ice barbs as a skill I figured I should at least ask if it would be better lore wise. What if you had to dip the item you wanted to ice barb in a source of water first? And then, using cryomancy freeze the water onto the item as you pull it out. Perhaps have it set on a timer so that the barbs will melt off if not refrozen every few minutes,as well as have them break after a certain amount of hits as they do now. No more swords covered in ice left in bank vaults for months without melting.

Cryomancy doesn't have quite that amount of precision to only freeze the water in a pattern of sharp edges and barbs around a submerged item - there's also the silliness of the ice being sharper than the metal sword and persisting for so many hits.

The replacement spell will involve sorcery as well as cryomancy, and will be a good deal more diverse in application, if that makes people feel better. It's going to be really, really cool. Rooks get all the best toys.

I know this is slightly off-topic but I'm reading a book in which elemancy is being used and the chick totally did that. I was thinking it could be a thing on the game. :P
