Mining Permits - Reserve mine.

Post by Landion »

Locke announced today that the Coalition would now offer Traders the opportunity to access and mine a reserve of rare minerals which had been recently discovered on the eastern slopes of the reserve. "Workers have been busy clearing the mine and making it suitable for our members to enter. Fortunately, the minerals we've found while preparing the mine have covered the costs." Locke offered a wry smile. "Permits will be available, just come speak with me and I'll be able to provide you with one." He then returned to the headquarters building to handle some more paperwork.

OOC notes -

You can now purchase a mining permit to gain one-time access to the Trade Coalition mine. This mine can be found in the eastern mountainside of the reserve. For those who have the skill, this mine will provide a chance for rarer gems and ore, less common in other locations.

Hold the permit in your right hand to enter, and don't leave if you're not ready! The permit is gone once you've entered the mine. No refunds!

It is suggested that you bring any needed supplies with you, as there are not any available inside the mine.

Enjoy.

After some extensive testing with this new mine, I've adjusted a few things to try to keep us closer to that dreaded "B" word. Balance.

- The cost of permits has been increased to account for the large amount of riln which you can make with this mine which in turn earns you points.
- Trader wagons now hold 500 lbs more than a regular wagon instead of 2000 lbs more. (which was unintended to begin with.)
- Wagons now are a bit more expensive due to only a 25% return value.

Further tweaks may still be necessary.

Since we no longer get points for selling stuff at the market...shouldn't the permit price go down?

I agree with this. I just think the cost outweighs the reward as things are. I'm actually scared to spend the points on a permit to be honest, because I'm afraid I'll go in, not be able to get enough of what I need, or any of wjat I need even, and not only be out 6000 guild points, but also have nothing worthy to show for it.

I'm not the Coalition guru so I don't have any meaningful input. Just wanted to ask: What else were you going to use those recognition points on?
The lore compels me!

That's pretty much what I was going to say.
A cheerful jingle intones, "Rithenschmirtz Evil Incorporateeeed!"

Bump

The price of the permit is so high to balance -previous- recognition gains. Originally the mine was lucrative enough that a wagon load cashed in enough to sustain a heavy permit cycle. Now it takes how many tasks to get a ticket?
