Spell Aiming?

I regret finding out that Spear of light needs spell aiming. I also regret to see how long this will take( used it till passing out twice and killing a half dozen shades still haven't gained 0.3 rating) on top of the fact that casting it in a row may make you faint(wasn't joking about passing out). Is this intended and Templars must slowly practice spell aiming to be able to use it on dangerous targets such as animated skeletons or was the accuracy of such a ability supposed to come from another attribute?

Ah, thanks for bringing this up, as updating these had floated to the back of my mind. The Templar "bolt" (aimed) spells are going to be changed a bit, allowing them to be aimed much more easily when compared to other spells, and will probably be changed to depend on Thaumaturgy for accuracy.
The large energy drain is intentional, however. They're supposed to be expensive but powerful bad-situation-handlers.

Spear of Light accuracy appears to be based on thaumaturgy and marksmanship - both skills that are secondary, at best, to the Templar (I would say marksmanship amongst Templar is nigh unheard of). Thaumaturgy should play a large role in the Templar abilities, I agree, but there is no efficient way to skill it up for us. Our only aimed spells are particularly draining, so skilling it up via them is inefficient at best. The only other way I am aware of to skill up thaumaturgy is by healing, and Templar are only able to heal scrapes, and so again we have relatively few opportunities to practice.
I would request either a more efficient way to skill up thaumaturgy, or to have our aimed spells perhaps receive some sort of innate bonus to accuracy when targeting nether-creatures. I would prefer the former, personally. It would feel less like cheating.

I do want it to require some dedicated training rather than just a bonus to hitting nethrim, so I'll see if I can figure out some ways for Templar to better increase their thaumaturgy skill. Also, remember that if you are channeling thaumaturgy while making melee attacks, the attacks will often be accompanied by a thaumaturgic "flare" which will damage nethrim and skill up your thaumaturgy a little.

Possibly use Thaumaturgy for defensive magics?Or infuse armour with it?Or crystals to create light sources?Or large crystal globes (This is for sort of world-wide wars between sorcerers and templars etc) filled with thaumaturgy which disallow the use of netheral energies.
