General Abilities and Elemancy

I think I saw it mentioned that Artisans are getting a progressive point system for their apprentice/journeyman/mastery ranks so that the points are replaced instead of added as they progress. If that's the case, I was thinking it might be nice to apply for elemancers as well since they're in a similar boat.

I would like this as well but I think the ability point cap was designed with the current setup in mind so if they were replaced as you say then the GMs may decide to lower the cap to something like 15 instead of 18.

The difference here is that elemancers can only master one element and get journeyman in two. Their total number of ability points needed to spend is still within acceptable ranges with the current cap.

Would it be possible to lump in elemental detection into elemental aptitude? It would also be supremely awesome to include severance in that package, with the ideal that your only successful with it IF your more skilled than the person channeling. So with a total newbie you'll be kind of worthless, but its a skill you can definitely grow into!

Does make sense because your chances of using those abilities with no elemancy skill are pretty much nil. And by 'makes sense', I mean that there's no harm from putting it into a general ability anyone can get. I like the idea of this being a more base ability though, so of like your awareness of elemancy and it makes aptitude more than just an ability that unlocks you being able to join a guild.
