Sorry to bother with something which may not a bug be, but with any gauntlets forged under the new system unarmed attacks are impossible as opposed to altered. If it is not a bug, it seems old gauntlets, including those currently purchasable from stores, work as before, switching unarmed strikes for gauntlet ones. This is in practice: examining all three--store-purchased, old player-forged, and newly player-forged--all describe them as gauntlets capable of crushing.
To clarify, gauntleted unarmed attacks were attempted with all three kinds, while wearing no other armor.
Admittedly this is a somewhat vain fix request because a certain new material seemed a wonderful idea for gauntlets; it is certainly not pressing or critical in any way, so thank you for finding time to read it, regardless of its validity.

Next time the bug command might be a little more appropriate for something such as this. It was a simple tag that was missing. All future gauntlets made with the forging system from now on should work.
