Minion assist (Minion bugs)

Here's a jumble of minion bugs I've encountered with animates over the years...

1. Minion assist
When I use the MINION ASSIST command to remove my minion from guard but have it assist in combat, the minion will do one of two things instead of just following the character around. It'll either start wandering the area like a critter, or if the animate was taken from a task, it will "leave to seek its post" and jump back and forth between wherever it was originally posted and to my character.

2. Slinger minion AI
When raising a slinger type minion, it never uses the sling in combat. It instead attempts to punch stuff ineffectively with one hand. I've encountered this mainly with task slingers, but also have seen it in swamp slingers. Archers on the other hand, have a ranged type AI.

3. Minion stay
A minion that's commanded to stay in one place will stop following the character, but then teleport in and out of the room the character is in presumably due to the auto-character seeking function.

4. Minions don't retain some general skills
Skills in particular that I can think of include stealth and swimming. You can see that stealth in particular isn't retained when animating particular archer mobs that have stealth while alive.

5. Minions on MINION ASSIST with hiding AI don't rehide
Title. It's possible to finagle minions into resuming their ambush AI by using minion assist, but there's the issue of them wandering off as mentioned earlier. However, even then, they don't attempt to do it with perfect replication. This is seen with some archer AI mobs like the infested p...oacher thing. I forget it's name.

6. Minions searching
Even if someone is within our group, if the minion sees an attack from hiding, it'll search for 7 to 8 rounds without stopping.

Minions have always been a bit buggy over the years. They have had multiple coders working on them and many many 'band-aid' fixes placed on them. A such, they work a bit wonky at times. The only way to fix minions as a whole would probably be a complete rewrite. Unfortunately, that is not going to happen any time soon. So please bear with us and take relief in the fact that, yes, they do work but they tend to have a mind of their own in many situations.

Kind of cool that they have a mind of their own, even if it's the result of a bug.
